Continuous service provisions

For employees who have transferred to another organisation under a Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE) transfer and have returned voluntarily to local government service on or after 1 April 1997.

Career grades are one of a range of initiatives available aimed at resolving recruitment and/or retention difficulties and supporting succession planning.

Relocation Assistance Scheme

The Relocation Assistance Scheme provides assistance to people moving home in order to be within a reasonable travelling distance of a new place of work following their appointment with the council.

Politically restricted posts

Certain local authority posts are deemed to be politically restricted.  Legislation imposes restrictions on the public political activities of the local government officers who are employed in these roles.
