Complete a health assessment if you're a night worker

If you work regular night shifts, you must complete an online health questionnaire once a year to establish medical clearance so you can continue to work.

Who is classed as a night worker

A night worker is anyone who works at least three hours between 11pm and 6am on a regular bases (as defined in the Working Time Regulations).

Regular health checks

Night work can affect some health conditions, so you must provide regular health checks:

It's your decision as to whether you wish to accept the offer of the assessment.

Fill in the online questionnaire

You will be sent a link to the night worker online questionnaire by email from the occupational health provider UKIM

After you have completed the questionnaire

Depending on your answers, you will either:

  • be cleared to work straightaway
  • be referred to a Occupational Health Advisor for a follow-up discussion

Your line manager will be told the overall result, but your personal medical information will not be shared without your consent.
