The Voluntary Redundancy (VR) scheme offers colleagues a supported way to consider future plans, while helping protect essential community services.

Apply for Discretionary Voluntary Redundancy

You can apply through ServiceNow (SNOW) by raising a ticket for Cumberland Voluntary Redundancy.

If you cannot access to ServiceNow you can apply by email with: 'Request to apply for VR' and include the following key information:

  • employee number
  • employee name
  • post title(s)
  • Line manager name
  • Service area

What happens after I apply

Here’s what to expect:

  1. Manager review: Your manager checks eligibility and considers any impact on the service.
  2. Pay and Reward costings: If eligible, your application is passed to Pay and Reward to complete the financial assessment.
  3. Director review: the Director for your service will review all of the applications and make a recommendation to the VR panel.
  4. Panel review: Once the Voluntary Redundancy (VR) window closes, all applications are reviewed together by the VR Panel.
  5. Outcome: You’ll be notified of the decision as soon as the panel has completed its assessment.
