The Voluntary Redundancy (VR) scheme offers colleagues a supported way to consider future plans, while helping protect essential community services.

Apply for Discretionary Voluntary Redundancy

The expression of interest application period ended at midday on Tuesday 23 June 2026.

What happens after I apply

Here’s what to expect:

  1. HR/OD review: check eligibility and if eligible, completes the financial assessment.
  2. Manager review: offers to meet with the employee for a one to one, completes the manager assessment form and discusses with the Assistant Director.
  3. Director review: the Director for your service will review all of the applications and make a recommendation to the VR panel.
  4. Panel review: Once the Voluntary Redundancy (VR) window closes, all applications are reviewed by the VR Panel.

Once the Voluntary Redundancy (VR) window closes and the VR Panel has worked through the expressions of interest, you will receive an outcome. You may not hear back until late July or early August.

The VR process will take several weeks, and we will provide updates to all colleagues .
