Who is the Discretionary Voluntary Redundancy is for
The Scheme applies to employees who at the date of termination of employment:
- have continuous local government service of 2 years or more at your proposed end date
- are not already on notice of termination of their employment
- are not subject to a live disciplinary process relating to safeguarding, health and safety or fraud
Employees are eligible to apply for VR if, at the date their employment would end under the scheme, they:
- have been employed by the Council for more than 2 years, or hold a contract that allows an application to be made under this Scheme
- are not already on notice of termination, for example due to resignation
- have successfully passed probation
These criteria are in place to ensure fairness and consistency, and to help colleagues understand from the outset whether the scheme applies to them.
