What job evaluation looks at
Job evaluation looks at:
- skills and knowledge
- responsibilities and decision‑making
- working conditions
This helps us compare roles in a clear and consistent way.
What job evaluation does not do
Job evaluation does not:
- assess an individual's performance
- determine how much individuals are paid. Pay is set separately though pay structures, grades and terms and conditions
- consider personal circumstances or length of service
Pay is decided later, alongside grading and terms and conditions.
Job evaluation scheme
We will use one Job Evaluation Scheme (JES) across the council.
The scheme has been chosen after consultation with recognised trade unions. We have chosen KornFerry HAY as the selected scheme.
