Keely Nicholson's story

The day involved caring for newly planted trees around the park. We removed vegetation growing around the tree trunks and roots, which can take away valuable nutrients needed for the trees' growth and survival, and applied additional mulch around the base of the trees. This gave the young trees a better opportunity to thrive in their new environment.

The group leaders were welcoming and supportive, ensuring that all volunteers felt comfortable with the tasks involved, while also keeping us well supplied with refreshments and snacks!

This work has a positive impact on everyone who visits Hammonds Pond, while also contributing to wider environmental and conservation efforts.
